Background: Menuka is the oldest daughter in her family and lives with her parents and her younger sister in a rented room in Old-Baneshwor. Her father worked as a security guard but ended up in the hospital because his hands and legs suddenly stopped functioning. The whole family depended on his income and now they have nobody to rely on. Menuka’s mother works for the house, so they do not have to pay rent. There is no income. It is difficult to pay for food and other necessities such as education for Menuka.

Update August 2015: Today we met Menuka, her sister Radhika and her father nearby at their rented room in Baneshwor. Menuka passed the grade three exam with a score of 88% and now she is at grade four at the same school. Her father is still under medication and now he is able to walk and able to work, but only with what is easy. We have given a cheque to the father to pay the school-fee of Menuka.
Menuka’s father is very grateful to Sairam Foundation and the sponsor of daughter Menuka and Radhika. During the treatment period, he took lots of loans and now he has difficulties to buy medicine. It would be nice if any kind people help him to purchase medicine for just € 10 a month. You can contact us for this.
Update May 2014: Menuka is in the 3rd grade. Her father is not yet recovered from illness. They spent a lot of money for his treatment and they take loans from relatives and friends.
Exam result school year 2013-2014: Menuka has an average score of 68% for her tests in class 2. She has been promoted to class 3.
