Name: Sushmita M.
Year of birth: 2004
Background: Sushmita is the oldest daughter among three children. She is currently living with her mother and her two sisters at a rented room in Imadol, Lalitpur. Her family is from a remote village in Sindhuli in 2007. Her father went to India in search of a job but he did not return. Her mother is taking care of everything by herself. She works at Brick Kiln and earns around 5.000 rupees a month, which is € 37 (it depends on how many bricks she can make). But this work is only available during certain seasons. During the monsoon season, she has to look for other work. She works in other houses and carries sand and marbles. Because they are living in rented rooms, she has to pay 2.000 rupees a month. It is difficult to take care of three children. Sushmita’s other sisters are very young, so she has to take care of her sisters if her mother is sick.
School: Sushmita works hard and does well at school.
